Elgato unveils its new DSLR-challenged camera
Elgato introduced its new camera that challenges DSLR cameras with its image quality. It may be the new favorite of publishers.
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed needs. While working from home and distance learning have become widespread, interest in the technologies used in these activities has also increased. The most popular products during this period were laptop computers, cases and tablets. Users used these products to carry out training and business activities on Zoom and similar platforms.
However, there is a serious problem. Although much smaller smartphones have near-perfect cameras, this is not the case when it comes to computers. Wanting to solve this situation, Elgato introduced its new camera, which is ideal for Zoom meetings during the day and Twitch broadcasts in the evening
Elgato Facecam delivers DLSR quality at an affordable price
Developed for low-light environments, the Elgato Facecam looks like a pretty standard camera at first glance. However, the camera, which can record 60 FPS at 1080P video resolution, is quite capable for its price. Attaching importance to low-light performance, Elgato preferred Sony’s Starvis CMOS sensor for this. The lens, which has an aperture of f / 2.4, achieves very successful results, especially in low-light environments.
Elgato Facecam, which has its own stand, connects with the USB C port. The company, which wants to offer the best not only in terms of hardware but also in terms of software, has also launched the Camera Hub application with this camera. Thanks to this application, users have the opportunity to make changes in white balance, contrast, zoom and other settings. However, all these features require concessions on certain issues
Relying heavily on Facecam, Elgato has saved some parts to focus on display features. The clearest example of this is sound. The camera, which does not have any microphone, forces users to use an external microphone. In addition, another saving issue is in the lens part. Unlike many modern cameras, the device comes with a fixed focus lens. However, the company claims that this is not a savings method and they only aim to improve image quality.
The Elgato Facecam, which went on sale with a price tag of $ 200, unfortunately has not yet been sold in our country. However, it is considered that the product will come to the Turkish market in a short time.
